Everybody deserves the chance to pursue their dreams, and lucky for Paul Potts, he saw his chance, and he took it.

A mobile-phone salesman by day, Potts’ true passion was singing opera. While he always dreamt of singing professionally, there was always one thing in the way of his dreams: himself.
“I’ve always wanted to sing as a career,” Potts says in the video. “Confidence has always been a difficult thing for me.”
Potts struggled to gain the confidence that would set his dreams in motion until one day he couldn’t wait any longer. When he had the opportunity to audition for the first series of Britain’s Got Talent he knew he couldn’t waste it. We’re glad he took the risk because the payoff has been incredible.

Like the judges, we were absolutely moved by Potts incredible performance of “Nessun Dorma.” This is one of the best-known songs in all of the opera, and Potts performance of it is beautiful!
The powerful voice that comes out of this man is out of this world. You won’t believe the amazing performance that brings the judges and audience to tears.

Since his performance, Potts went on to win the first season of Britain’s Got Talent. His debut album was chart-topping in multiple countries and he has experienced great success for almost the past decade. One incredible moment of bravery has made all of Potts’ dreams come true.
